Our Church History...

In the spring of 1934, Evangelist S.C. Chambers conducted a tent revival in Greer, South Carolina. It was at the close of this revival that the Greer Church of God had it's beginnings. Reverend H.L. Whittington, State Overseer, organized the church and appointed Reverend Linwood Jacobs as Pastor.

A store building was rented on Merchant Street where services were held for ten months. During this time property was purchased on Pelham Street and construction began immediately. The first service held in the new church was conducted in March of 1935.

As time progressed an ideal piece of property was purchased at the corner of Trade and Pelham Street: and this became the location of the present sanctuary, erected in 1951.God has continued to bless through the years.

The church has a spacious fellowship hall with ample recreation area and complete kitchen facilities. A beautiful and spacious parsonage is located on Mt. Vernon Circle. The church auditorium was completely renovated in October of 1996, and improvements were made to the Sunday School Department. Two houses have also been purchased.

We continue to praise God for all his blessings on the Greer Church of God!
